We can't summarize this field with sum

Help! I just want to pivot column R correctly.

can you mock up expxced result ?

did you want to SUM to show 8 ?

i changed from COUNT to SUM

on the pivot table setting - you will see VALUES - bottom right
it says COUNT
Right click
Field settings
change to SUM

That doesn't work. Still shows "we can't summarize this field with sum". Tried copy/paste it in a new workbook but I still get the same error.

strange I did it OK on the workbook your attached - is that the workbook you are using ???

Yes, same workbook. I just deleted some confidential info.

yep, that happens , in fact - same sort of thing only a few hours ago on a different forum, where excel was not recognising typing into only a few cells....
glad its all fixed now
